About Wyoming Artisan Art

The Story Behind the Work

Wyoming Artisan Art began with a simple belief: the objects we use every day can also be beautiful works of art.

What started as a creative exploration with wood and paint gradually became a studio practice centered on craftsmanship, patience, and a deep appreciation for natural materials. Living and working in Wyoming has a way of shaping how you see things; the textures of weathered wood, the quiet strength of the landscape, and the sense that things worth having are made to last.

Each charcuterie board created in the studio begins as a piece of natural hardwood. From there, it slowly takes on a new life through layers of artwork, resin, and fine metallic accents. The goal is not to rush the process, but to allow the character of the wood and the design to evolve together.

The result is a piece that feels both refined and grounded; something meant to be used, admired, and shared.

The Process

Every board is created individually, beginning with careful preparation of the wood. The natural grain and shape often guide the direction of the artwork, making each piece a collaboration between the material and the artist.

Artwork is added using a blend of digital design and hand-painted techniques. Layers of resin are then applied, creating depth, movement, and a glass-like finish that enhances the natural beauty of the wood. Subtle accents of 24K gold or pure silver are carefully placed by hand, catching the light and bringing a quiet sense of elegance to the piece.

This process takes time and attention. It cannot be rushed, and it is never exactly the same twice.

Why These Boards Are Different

Wyoming Artisan Art boards are created to live somewhere between functional craftsmanship and original artwork.

While they are fully sealed with a food-safe finish and designed to serve charcuterie, cheeses, and shared meals, many collectors also display them as wall art. The combination of natural hardwood, layered resin artwork, and metallic accents creates a visual depth that changes depending on the light and the angle from which the piece is viewed.

Because each board is made by hand and shaped by the natural character of the wood, no two pieces will ever be identical.

Each finished board is individually numbered and marked on the back as an original piece from the studio.

The Meaning Behind the Work

Food has always had a way of bringing people together. A simple board placed at the center of a table can turn an ordinary evening into something memorable.

These pieces are created with that idea in mind, not simply as serving pieces, but as part of the experience of gathering. They are meant to be brought out when friends arrive, when families sit down together, and when moments are shared around the table.

Over time, many collectors tell me their boards become part of those memories. A familiar piece that returns again and again for celebrations, conversations, and quiet evenings alike.

A Small Family Studio

Wyoming Artisan Art is a small, family-supported studio. My husband, Skyler, often lends a hand preparing and sanding boards, helping ensure that each piece meets the same standard of craftsmanship before it leaves the workshop.

Working this way allows every board to be given the attention it deserves, from the first preparation of the wood to the final finishing touches.

Collector’s Statement

Each board created at Wyoming Artisan Art is a one-of-a-kind piece. Because the artwork is applied by hand and guided by the natural character of the wood, no two boards will ever be exactly alike. Once a design is completed and leaves the studio, it is never reproduced in the same form again.

For some collectors, these pieces become part of the table, brought out to serve guests and mark special occasions. For others, they find a place on the wall, where the grain, color, and metallic accents can be appreciated every day.

However they are used, each board carries the mark of the moment it was created, a small piece of the studio preserved in wood, resin, and gold.

Care & Longevity

Each board created at Wyoming Artisan Art is sealed with a durable, food-safe finish designed to protect both the wood and the artwork. With simple care, these pieces can be enjoyed for many years.

After use, boards can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed, then dried thoroughly. Like all natural wood pieces, they should not be submerged in water or placed in a dishwasher and rubbed down with food-safe mineral oil occassionally.

Over time, the wood will continue to develop its own character, deepening in tone and warmth. Many collectors find that this natural aging only adds to the beauty of the piece, making it feel even more personal with each gathering and shared meal.

Closing

From our studio in Wyoming, every board is made with the same intention: to create something lasting, meaningful, and truly one of a kind.
